Let me tell you that learning sign language purely from books and internet is not going work. You need physical people to practice with that can help you and critique you as needed. It seems fairly easy at first but as you go on it gets harder and harder.
There are places online that are good for just learning the basics if you need to get by just knowing a couple of words.

My advice to you if you really want to pursue Sign Language is to register at a University located to you that is offering the courses. It is so enjoyable and the best way to learn!
Hope I helped!
There are many many resources on the internet as far as learning sign language goes. Most of them have ASL dictionaries with videos to show you how to make the signs. Here are a few of my favorites

That last one is a site where you can practice fingerspelling receptive skills. (Hint start off slow and work your way up)
One thing I have to tell you is that with learning ASL online you’re not going to get the kind of signing practice that you need and you’re not going to be able to learn much grammar. There are a lot of good ASL books out there too. One I like is called American Sign Language The Easy Way. Don’t forget to learn about Deaf culture as you learn sign language as well!
One last recommendation, try looking around where you live for Deaf organizations. Try to find a Deaf club or contact someone who is Deaf so you have a chance to practice and learn more about ASL. It is the best way to become proficient!
