  1. If you plan on living in America in the future, choose Spanish. But really, it’s not a hard language to learn, so you could learn sign language on your own, too.

  2. Your mom is right.

Nobody speaks French or German here, outside of High School Classrooms.

  3. I’d go with Spanish, as there are more people in the US who speak it than any other language except English.

Whether you add ASL, German, French, Russian, or Mandarin depends on what you plan to do with your life. A doctoral degree? German would serve you very well in a great many academic fields. Global travel? Learning Chinese opens a third of the world to you.

  4. people don’t like to hear you speaking English in America, because foreign devils in their movies speak English. It’s safest to talk American, because in the USA English = a foreign language, and an actual foreign language = terrorism. avoid rendition, talk American.

  5. Your mom is right because Spanish is the largest growing population in the US and sigh language is useful to communicate when you need to be quite and to “talk” to those who can not “talk” out loud.

  6. If you are choosing a career based on a language, I will go with Chinese as an additional language. It is the next business language. Or…. Japanese.

If you are thinking of plain carrying on conversations in America, go with Spanish. Sign language will get you jobs in some important places too. You mom is right.

  7. Mom is right. Sign Language ALWAYS comes in handy & it’s a great talent to put on a resume. Spanish is the most spoken language in the world. Wherever you go, you will find spanish speaking populations. With a little work, you can master spanish in a year. From Spanish, you can easily go on to Italian, French, Portuguese, etc. Good Luck.

  8. I would definately say Spanish. It will be the most useful and apparently really easy to learn. A lot of the people who don’t speak English here speak Spanish. However, it isn’t completely necessary to learn a different language because at every public place that i’ve been to most people there (if not all) can speak English so you shouldn’t feel like you absolutely have to choose Spanish but if you want to, have fun and good luck =)
