You make one up, usually with the first initial. If your name is, for example, Laura, you’d use the letter L somehow.
You generally make a sign. You use the first initial, and then a sign that means something to them. Or description.
I learnt sign when i was like 5 and i remember being taught how to spell my name.
So maybe they do spell it out, i couldn’t say for sure because it was sooooo long ago. And that’s pretty much all i remember..
Generally for Deaf or those who are around sign language much time, a name sign is assign to them.
Deaf people use to pick a sign name according some characteristic of the person, profession or another personal detail. There is not thing such a specific sign name for each name. Two Johns can absolutely have two different sign names.
When you first start in the Deaf community it’s usual to just finger-spell your name.
