  1. emotions play a huge part in the way something is said by hands, just as with speech.

a person who wants to yell will do it very similarly either way. with great vehemence, and great gusto.

  2. The great thing about ASL is that you can modify the meaning of a sign.
For example: If you wish to give someone a simple, cursory “thank you”, you would execute the sign, simply and briefly. If you want to imply huge thanks, you would use both hands and execute the sign much larger. A sarcastic “thank you” would be sharp and quick. But…. body language and facial expression are paramount to all else. A hearing impaired individual has no real concept of what yelling is because it requires sound. Trust me however, your body and face “speak” volumes. They would most certainly know if you were angry or upset.
