Which language is the easiest to learn and why?

Which language is the easiest to learn and why? The question is not necessarily for people who already know English, so it doesn’t matter whether or not the language is similar to English.

Real languages only. Sign language and Esperanto don’t count.
FYI, here’s my thinking. I’d appreciate your comments on it as well.

It’s probably not one of the Southeast Asian languages (like Chinese and Japanese) since they don’t even have an alphabet.

It’s probably not one of the romance languages (like Spanish, French, and Latin) because their verb conjugations are unnecessarily complicated.

It’s probably not English, since our spelling is irrational.

I’d guess one of the other Germanic languages. Maybe German.

  1. i personally find french is the easiest language to learn. Once you know the basic verbs and how to conjugate them and stuff, you’re pretty much good to go. Also, once you learn french, you can easily learn other languages such as spanish since there are many similarities between the two languages. I think Spanish is a bit similar to Italian (i dunno, i could be wrong) so I think french is pretty easy to learn.

I think Chinese is the hardest language to learn cuz there’s no alphabet and no verb conjugation.

  2. German! It is easy to learn. I am german and My friend who is english already understood a full conversation with me and my mum in 1 year. Also try French! My brother learned french for a year now and he can speak a lot of phrases. You can email me and take german email lessons if you want to.

  3. im trying to learn french and german. i know a lil french but german looks soo hard. can you give me german lesoons habbo fan A ?

  4. All languages have a degree of difficulty. The ability to learn a foreing language does depend a lot on the similarities it has with your native language, so that’s something people must take into account.

Of course I don’t know all the languages in the world, there may be some that are really easy, but among the ones that are most commonly used and if we are going to talk about grammar, no doubt English is one of the easiest ones. However, the crazy spelling and also the pronunciation, especially all the different vowel sounds, make it difficult to write and to speak.

In general, I would say English is one of the easiest languages, especially for someone whose first language has a complicated grammar.

If there was an easier language, I’d be very willing to start learning it right now.

  5. Latin is the easiest to learn for an English speaker because 60 percent of the English language is derived from Latin.

The verb conjugations do not make it harder to learn the language unless you are going about your learning by the convoluted method of memorizing conjugations and endings and tons of grammar.

You can learn the grammar by using the language, and it is painless and easy.

Latin does not have bunches of complicated rules that you have to learn in order to read the language, although there was a time in America when that was the favored way to teach it.

  6. For most people, and certainly for English speakers, Dutch is easier than German by far, and probably so is Norwegian (an Swedish would be next). Also, Spanish, then Italian, then French probably, with Romanian and Portuguese somewhere in there as well.

  7. i’d like to think the first language [or languages, if you’re bilingual] that was spoken to you

  8. Your native language should be the easiest language to yourself.

btw, there are alphabets in Japanese. Japanese is phonic, supplemented by Kanji borrowed from ancient Chinese.

  9. One cannot say “real languages” because it is a mistake this classification. Real languages suggest all languages that exist and are used. So Esperanto and Sign languages are used everyday in the whole world, in the same role of a national language. Maybe one would say “national languages” but this not necessarily is correct, because there are many languages not recognized by States, but they exist.
Esperanto is a planned language, and for this reason more logical, simple and regular, than any other in the world. Created by man and developed by an entirely international community. In this sense is a succesfull planned language, since it is a real language and undoubtedly a materpiece of simplicity and communicating power. The easiest language in the world
