  1. spanish
because my children’s friends are hispanic
i need to talk to their parent
    they can’t speak english..

  2. It is good to know languages so you can communicate with many different people to do business with and teach and learn from.

  3. It was helpful in being understood in Canada (learning English) and it allowed me my main entertainment of reading books. ~

  4. The reason is that mainly, it’s my culture and I love the language.

The language I am learning is Italian(Italiano).

Oh yeah, to say the word cazone its ” ca-zo-na” not “ca-zon”

  5. I’m half Mexican, so I had to learn Spanish to be able to communicate with my relatives.

I also am starting to learn Brazilian Portuguese (there are bunches of Brazilians around here, so it can be real helpful), and I’m hoping to learn Italian as well as French at one point.

I love learning different languages, it makes everything more interesting and I love learning about other cultures. Another reason I plan on learning so many is because I want to help immigrants. I’d like to help them get their green cards, teach them English, help them find decent jobs, etc. I know it is a very specific, but I’m hoping for it…

Also, if I have the money when I’m older (I’m only 16, so I’ve got plenty of time), I’d like to travel to different countries. By knowing their languages, I’d get the full experience whereas another person who didn’t, wouldn’t.

  6. Well I work in the hotels industry and as many languages you are able to speak as better. I speak Spanish (my mother language), English, Italian, Portuguese and I’m learning some Arabian and French.

  7. Interested in general to learn another language. I’m interested in French, Arabic and Hebrew.

  8. I’m learning Japanese, because I wanna move there and either be a translator or an english teacher to little primary school children.

It’s also a complex language and it makes you feel kinda aweseome when you say a sentance and it’s 100% perfect.

Also, I am learning french and German, but only because I have to learn them in High School.

  9. I’m currently trying to learn Russian, I tried before but didn’t hang on long enough, but this time I am really determined. I like the intellectual challenge, and I like the idea of finding out more about the culture behind the language. Plus I want to travel to Russia and be able to do it independently, finding my own way around. And Russian is useful in many countries.

  10. To get into the mindsets of people from different places and even times. I love that the French say, “She came into the room like a flower.” The ancient Romans didn’t fall asleep, but gave themselves to sleep; they didn’t wake up, but loosed themselves from sleep. It’s a whole new way to think!

  11. French, as it’s a really good language and it will be useful for work, tourism etc. Plus I find it easy, so that helps.

I used to do German, it’s better for business but I found it hard. I miss doing it though.

  12. Currently I speak English and Spanish; English being my first language and Spanish being my major in school. I am currently wrapping up Brazilian Portuguese and am also working on French. In the future I would also like to learn Chinese and Japanese.
One of my main reasons for learning other languages is because I am a college business majoring in International Business (and Spanish too like I said). My occupation will likely require a large amount of interaction with people from different countries and cultures. By speaking a wide variety of languages I feel that I am guaranteeing myself a job. A company would easily view me as an asset. Instead of having to hire 5 different workers to speak to in five different foreign languages I would be able to handle all of the matter myself.
The second reason why I enjoy learning languages so much is because of how much you learn about of country or a culture in the process. For example the Japanese language has a very complicated form of speaking, as far as addressing a person with the right amount of respect. For that reason there may be four or five different ways of saying one English sentences. That right there shows you how important respect for different members in society is in Japan.
My finally reason for learning languages is the most important reason. It’s simply something I enjoy doing. While I never really been a math wiz or a genious when it comes to science I’ve always excelled at languages learning. I was the one helping out the other students with the Spanish finals back in high schools. Learning new ways of thinking and mimicking the accent of another languages has always been easy for. Plus I just find the whole process of learning a new language very fun.
Hope this answered you question. And good luck with ur Spanish and Sign language!

  13. Well… I’m indonesian descent & speak Malay-Indonesian i was born in Kalgoorlie Western Australia.. 14. My native language is American Sign Language. I learned English because I live in America and well.. I need it here. 🙂

Then I learned Spanish because I had a lot of Spanish speaking friends, and I wanted to communicate with the rest of their family.

Then I learned French, because it’s my family’s roots and I wanted to know all I could about it.

Now I’m interested in learning something like Spanish Sign Language or British Sign Language.

I’d love to travel to another country and meet other Deaf who use a different sign language based on their country.

    Would just be mind-blowing, I think! 🙂

    Cool question. 🙂
