i am 100% bilingual (spanish/english) and i am interested in becoming a spanish professor BUT with a twist. I want to learn American sign language and Lenguage de señas de mexico ( basically spanish sign language) and teach using those tools. My question is, would i be considered to know 4 languages? or just as trilingual since its sign language either way.
the “mexican” sign language was an example, i am sure there is an “universal” spanish sign language i could learn and then learn the specific words for each specific spanish speaking country (which is what i did with my spanish). I just need to know if i will receive credit for 4 languages or just 3.

Are you sure the sign language in Mexico is the same as the sign language in Spain? British sign language for example is different from American sign language I believe. I am sure you will be coping with four languages if you do English, Spanish, and Mexican and United States sign languages.
Yes you would know four languages as American Sign Language is different than Spanish Sign Language. You might also want to note that Spanish Sign Language is different than Mexican Sign Language and is only signed most of Spain (though not parts of Catalonia and Valencia). Also, American Sign Language (ASL) is different that Signed English. These languages all of different signs and syntaxes.
