  1. everyone needs to relax and be happy that these girls are trying to learn ASL. they are beginners everyone started somewhere.

  2. I think people are saying to mouth because someone who is Deaf would most likely have a hard time understanding the underlying meaning. It’s a really emotional song, but they don’t show that and they even laugh at some parts that are supposed to be serious. But yah mouthing is a nooo nooo for people learning ASL. Many ppl who sign to communicate do though, bc it’s easier to breach the gap in communication.

  3. It IS good, the interpretation and the signing is good and fluid… the problem is that in order for it to be understood by someone who CANNOT hear the music or doesn’t understand the song already… the words have to be shown through more than the hands.

ASL is a visual language, it’s more than just moving your hands. Emotion and expression are VERY important when you’re trying to communicate effectively in sign language.

  4. ithink its funny how people are saying to mouth, in ASL for Mrs. Thomasson and Ms. Marler teaches it too cause Mrs. T said they teach pretty much the same, but we learn to not mouth because it can get distracting and we get docked points for it. so ithink it was good 🙂

  5. I love that song. You signed it pretty well, especially compared to 90% of the kids I see every day in my ASL 2 class. The translation was accurate. The only thing you could work on is more emotion, but with the music, it’s fine cause I know what’s going on. 🙂 good job

  6. @limmyblue i think they’re wearing the hats and outfits as costumes, since the song is if i were a boy.

  7. @limmyblue they are high school students-not university-they’re only in their second year-it’s pretty good for their level

  8. Really poor. Need to work on facial expressions, too stiff, and you can move your mouths, to sing the words.

  9. sorry darlings, epic fail. we’re students at university in England learning BSL, and you guys shouldn’t be wearing hats, and tie your hair back! use more facial expressions! Tiger and Pheonix xxx

  10. this is good and i know this is an ASL class but try not to change the lyrics to “too ASL” the meaning of the lyrics kinda get lost. and also try to “lip sync” when you sign, it makes you a lot easier to understand
but good job nonetheless :] (i’m hard of hearing and go to a deaf school)

  11. that’s awesome.
i go to university high at irvine and i’m hard of hearing too.
