We Are The World – performed in ASL.

Sean Forbes and Camille Jeter-Lorello were guests for a workshop at the DeSales Camp in Brooklyn, Michigan. Sean and Camille shared their experiences with translations and being in front of the camera. The campers translated and performed “We Are The World”, this is their work. Special thanks to the Holley Ear Institute for making this camp possible. “We Are The World” is written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie..

  1. Mathew Whitfield (sp?) has an incredible future in interpreting English songs into ASL songs…and (one of the ) incredibly heartwarming (and tear-jerking) moments for me is (3:42+) when the young man in red/orange shirt and young woman in pink shirt kneel down for “when we stand together as one” — THANK YOU for making me cry! Everyone did such an incredible performance, everyone, and music touches everyone – the words and emotions are the same no matter what language we use. PEACE..

  2. Thank you all for being so wonderful, for sharing your experience and love for this song …. and this language. Only in ASL can we ‘say” so many things in different ways that touch the heart, the soul … please continue to enjoy bringing two cultures together in such an incredible way. wow, you even got my hubby crying along with me… PEACE…

  3. Hi there Sean, Yeah, I’d love to attend your workshop and be creative on ASL signing on one of the songs…. I am in the Midwest, middle of nowhere, just name the place and I’d want to attend…..
Obviously Camille and you did great job doing this kind of workshop. In other word, you sow the seeds for the deafies to appreciate the music more.
    Good luck in your endeavors!
