@HerrWerther Yes i agree with you.I don’t believe helen’s father was a bastard, but he was an angry man and felt unable to cure her daughter. When helen became blind and deaf,i think her parents had to live a real nightmare, and felt very sad,and in despair.Because seeing her child being deaf and blind and staying in this state with no hope of being like before, having sight and hearing, must be horrible..
considering the traditions of that epoch… the patriarchal system.. and all the cultural stuff… well, the man was quite gentle… and Helen was so strong…
@fisteberg ok i kinda see your point.
but still. i cant stand to see him act like that.
Whoa katie kinda looked like a mad scientist when she said “let her come”
wow…helen’s trantrums are almost explosive!
Captain Keller’s my favorite character.
@uchegab he sounds like he is an auctioneer
true. all true. im just saying that it could’ve been handled better by the parents yanno? instead of frustration maybe a little more firm hand in love. anger leads to more anger and even if they couldn’t communicate with her i still think she kinda felt their frustration in a way and they handled it poorley. even with their love and trying to have doctors help her. takes time. think maybe they were too rushed yanno? thats all lol
i love the look on helen’s face at 1:23
i agree
her dad is such a bastersd
wow. so blind were the parents in their ignorance. love IS blind, but ignorance makes u dumb. lol. its rllly cool how anne is so, straight foreward. it rlly is how alot of things should be handled. in our world now, i think there is alot of spoiled brats and ignorance. it should be handled how annne handeled hellen. just an opionion though lol
Oh okay. I was like wtf is wrong with the mom! But now I know.
Annie has had Helen for two weeks and the mother hasn’t been able to see her. Annie is not ready to let Helen go because she feels she hasn’t really taught her anything. But the mother can’t stand to be away from her any longer, so she’s very adamant about telling Annie to let her come to her.
Another awesome scene. Manipulative little thang isn’t she? Teacher isn’t putting up with it though. Go teacher! She’s no different than any young kid growing up looking for attention–and will do anything to get it.
lmfao why does the mother sound like pissed off when shes like “LET HER COME!”. I love this movie though. its the only black and white movie i’ll ever watch.
cudos to the big bro! right on! annie IS right!
They don’t want her as a pet, but they don’t know what they can do for her – other than give her her way in everything. Its basically spoiling her rotten. If you were a parent with a blind and deaf child in those days, there was little available to do for them other than put them away – like a savage animal.
Poor Helen. Having a pair of parents that only want her as a pet…
i hope i can be an effective teacher as anne is, reaching out is the most difficult thing for these children
