What is the best book and/or CD-rom to buy for him to teach ASL? I would be very grateful for any information you would offer. His dream is to learn sign language in English and attend Galludet University.

Well you could go to like local farsi classes and ask…. i go to a farsi school and i can ask 4 you if you want…
This is actually an excellent website to learn the signs. Obviously he knows that facial expressions are important, so I won’t go into that… but anyway… here it is. Awesome website of ASL signs.

You need Quicktime to view it. All you need to do is pick a word and click on it and a woman will come on and sign it for you on video… that way you can see how it is ACTUALLY signed. Paper can only do so much to explain. Video is actually much better.
Many foreign deaf come to America and learn ASL at the community college and through the Deaf community. Olone is one example (close to where I live in the Bay Area in California).

I would suggest he enroll in an ASL class, or find a private DEAF instructor.
