Why the people need to learn sign language?

Nobody NEEDS to learn it. But if you know anyone who is deaf, or mute, for that matter, sign language can be a great help with communication. And it’s fun to learn even if you don’t have much use for it. Everyone I know who has taken sign language has taken it in high school or college.
