How many people use American Sign Language?

It is really hard to give the exact number, as the number increase daily.One reason why it is hard to determine the total numbers, is that a lot of people who are Deaf or have hearing problems don’t come forward to be counted. The information I had was that there were approximately 30 million people with some form of hearing loss. American Sign Language is not only used in the United States but also in Canada. The other factor to consider is that hearing loss is now affecting the younger population, this is brought on by the continue use of i-pods. With the earphones being worn during longer period of time it is causing damage to the hearing.
