I love this, it’s so cool!
These classes are designed for hearing babies. Deaf babies should be taught more formal ASL and parents of deaf babies should learn from another deaf adult. Even though we teach ASL signs we are not teaching the full formal ASL, it is a very complex language (as you know). I agree with you about wanting my children to know about and be involved in Deaf Culture!
🙂
Is this a class for the parents of deaf babies to learn as well as the children or is it like just for parents to learn so they can teach their kids on their own? i’d love to know! I’m in my second Year of ASL and im really getting into the baby signing stuff. I only have one more year in school so i’m going to continue to learn outside of school because i want my children to be involved in Deaf Culture, be they hearing or deaf. are there alot of classes like this around?
I’m sold!
i think its GREAT (:
This is such a great song, the tone is very catchy!
Hi! Actually signing in a mulit-lingual home is a great idea because it helps link the languages. Because you would use ASL (or whatever sign language you choose) to teach specific words in your language rather than teaching them the whole sign language it can be used when speaking both languages. For example, if you sign and say ‘milk’ in English and then sign and say it in French the baby will realize the two words mean the same thing. It is a great link between languages!
Hello Laura,
I’ve just spend over an hour watching all the different videos of yours. I have a question regarding a multi-language family such as my will be: I’m Czech, my husband English. We’re planning on moving to France. So kids, when they come, will learn actually learn 3 languages (I will definitely teach them Czech). I’d also like to sign with them. Isn’t that a bit too much for a little brain? Thank you.
this is so cool. I decided I wanted to learn asl so i youtubed and found you. So you’re teaching me stuff. haha. Thanks for sharing! I’ll definitely sign with my kids when i’m older and have them. 🙂
these videos are great! i found you on youtube about 6 months ago. Ever since i have found sign language and baby signing fascinating! i will definitely sign with my children when that time comes!
Great song!!!! *hat goes off to the hubby* 😉
