  1. They’re probably not used to communicating in that way (more physically), and it might be harder for them to pay attention to visual communication that oratory communication.

  2. I’m a student of ASL. The hardest part for me was making hand movements and nodding my head at the same time. The rest has been easy.

  3. Sign language is not hard, it’s the most beautiful language in the world – but then I am a coda so maybe I would say that.

    I think hearing people have a hard time with facial expressions – they use facial expressions naturally as children and then as they get older they become less and less expressive in their faces, unless they are feeling extreme emotion, so they can sometime sign, ‘I am very annoyed with you’ but their face looks like they are going on a picnic! lol.

    I knew one lady who had a nervous smile when signing, so even when she was signing something really sad or shocking she would just stand their with a big cheesy grin on her face. She’s improving now though!!!

    It’s not hard to learn to sign – I wish everyone would because it is fun, beautiful, expressive, interesting (often I think each sign has an interesting history all of its own – like for example in BSL the way we sign countries names and why we use that sign)…

    I signed before I could speak…can’t be that hard 🙂

  4. I am planning on learning sign language. I have a friend that is deaf and he is going to teach me. I will work hard to learn so that we can talk to each other. I seen people use sign language and it is a beautiful language to learn. everything is hard to learn at first, but when you use it all the time it becomes easy to learn. I can’t wait for my special friend to teach me sign language

  5. Any foreign language is hard as you are learning. You just have to keep at it. I was a sign language interpreter for 10 years.
