How do I find a local place to learn American Sign Language (in person)?

More specifically in South Carolina. I was taught a little of the language in the church I grew up in and I fell in love with it and would like to learn the language to teach my future children. Any ideas?

  1. I took classes at a local community classes. There was a website I used a lot that can teach you several things. I attached it to the reference.

  2. Research, because all areas are different! Usually community colleges offer courses in ASL as well as community centers might hold some classes. I have found numerous church groups that have ASL clubs as well. If you find a church with an interpreter and some Deaf congregation, then you will learn a lot and make friends in the Deaf community. Sometimes it helps to learn things from someone who is actually Deaf/hard of hearing.

This website is an amazing resource for learning and practicing!
