Here’s a few websites that can help
I commend you for wanting to learn Sign Language, but your local Social Security office can’t accommodate your disability?!?!
I’m sorry, but they have to. It’s the LAW. Really, they ought to be used to disabled people coming in all the time and be able to handle most disabilities. And I bet if they can’t handle it the moment you walk in, they ought to be able to set something up if you e-mail them a day or so ahead of your appointment.
It just might be time to talk to a Social Security/Disability lawyer.
You need to write a letter to social security and explain that you need someone at a meeting who understands people who speak who are deaf. That is your right.
Social Security can’t stop your checks because they can’t understand you. That is stopping a visually impaired person’s SSI checks all because this person can’t see to sign his name. If I were you I would “Fight them tooth and nail.” In the meantime, the following website has some of the more common words in sign language:

Good luck!
I recommend you look for a sign language school close in your place, then you inquire for any lesson or course that would fit your schedule and your lifestyle.
U can google it.

You can rent signing tapes from your local library-they are helpful and informative and they start out slowly to let you learn at your own pace. Good Luck!
Sorry to here you are having difficulties. Try your local citizens advise office for classes in your area. or go to British Institute for learning difficulties web site.
It would be a good idea for you to fight for you to get you checks back, and have someone explain to you clearly why did those checks stopped!! You should always carry a notepad with you to important things, such as the SS office, doctor’s offices, and they should have the time and listen to your concerns.
If your OVR/VR is good then they have to help you with this situation.
Check your local churches, local services that helps people for list of free sign languages classes.

You can go to your local colleges and find out if any of them have American Sign Language classes available. You can go through BVR to get your college paid for ,possibly even qualify for a Pell grant. (apply at http://www.fafsa.gov)
