“Unanswered Prayers” in ASL

“Unanswered Prayers” by Garth Brooks, expressed in American Sign Language. [All lyrics and music are property and copyright of Garth Brooks. I am not the owner, nor do I take any credit. She was the one that Id wanted for all times And each night Id spend prayin that God would make her mine And if hed only grant me this wish I wished back then Id never ask for anything again. (chorus) Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers Remember when youre talkin to the man upstairs That just because he doesnt answer doesnt mean he dont care Some of gods greatest gifts are unanswered prayers. She wasnt quite the angel that I remembered in my dreams And I could tell that time had changed me Inn her eyes too it seemed We tried to talk about the old days There wasnt much we could recall I guess the lord knows what hes doin after all. And as she walked away and I looked at my wife And then and there I thankedd the good lord For the gifts in my life. *chorus* Some of gods greatest gifts are all too often unanswered… Some of gods greatest gifts are unanswered prayers.

  1. I have to ask… What region of the US do you live in? You seem to do a lot of country music, typically associated w/ the south, however your sign accent is very much more Norther US to me, crisper, cleaner smaller movements.

Also, just curious why you chose ‘hope/expectations’ for ‘wish’ instead of ‘C’ hands at the torso (you know what I mean, lol) was it simply easier to do a smaller movement with the time?

  2. I heard this song on the radio today and had to say the time was fitting! It’s so true tho, maybe for many this is reason why many don’t believe. However I must admit the more I lose in life the more I realize how amazing god is! Thanks for the signing!

  3. This is an AWESOME video! Good Job! My baby sister uses ASL so it was entertaining and educational! 😀

  4. I’m 53, ex airborne soldier, an irreverent superficial piss taking ass hole….MOST of the time. I’ve just watched you and seen the beauty of nature, created by the LACK one of the 5 sense’s I just take for granted. I’m sorry for being moron, your passion really touched me. Thank you for makinhg me understnand

  5. Just beautiful. This brought tears to my eyes. ASL is such a beautiful language, and this translation was so, so moving. Thank you for sharing this.

  6. This is great. I sign Garth Brooks Low Places everytime it is on. I studied ASL for 3 yrs in college – before my wrist and shoulder got messed up. Now that they are fixed I have kids and other things to do…makes me want to get back into it.

  7. I would love it if you could do “god Bless the Broken Road” by Rascle Flatts. My husband is deaf. And that was our wedding song. I sign, but not well enough (I think anyway) to sign it to him the way you can. that would be amazing… thanks…

You do such an amazing job signing all of these songs. I have been having my husband watch some. His favorite is “im watching you” reminds him of our son 😉 he is almost 3. thanks ally!

  11. mgilmore77 … instead of being negative and a critic why dont you not get on your knees and ask God about your own life.
Instead of going around like a loser grading others actions. bye
