Anyone know a SITE I can go on to learn Songs in American Sign Language?

I’m trying to sign the song, “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” from the Lion King for my friend’s little brother. But learning word by word isn’t all that helpful I’ve been finding out. Does anyone know a website I can go to that has the song already translated? Where I can just watch a person sign it while I listen to it????

I know that’s a stretch but it’s possible, right??

  1. I don’t know, sorry, but my friend learnt to sign, so did I to better communicate with a nephew.

  2. Note that ASL is not the same as English. I could attempt to gloss the song for you, which would mean you would still need to look up the signs, but at least it’s something. All signs used were found at http://signingsavvy.com unless otherwise noted.

I’m gonna be a mighty king, so enemies beware!
FUTURE IX-me* BECOME STRONG KING ENEMY BEWARE

I’ve never seen a king of beasts
    LION KING IX-me NEVER SEE
    With quite so little hair
    WITH LITTLE-BIT* HAIR

I’m gonna be the mane event
    IX-me MOST IMPORTANT
    Like no king was before
    SAME-AS PAST KING NONE
I’m brushing up on looking down
    ?*
    I’m working on my roar
    PRACTICE POSS-my* ROAR

Thus far a rather uninspiring thing
    ?

Oh, I just can’t wait to be king!
    IX-me CAN’T WAIT BECOME KING

    No one saying do this
    NO PERSON* SAY DO*

    Now when I said that–
    HAPPEN IX-me SAY THAT

    No one saying be there
    NO PERSON SAY “BE* THERE”*

    What I meant was–
    IX-me MEAN*

    No one saying stop that
    NO PERSON SAY STOP THAT

    What you don’t realize–
    IX-you NOT-UNDERSTAND*

    No one saying see here
    NO PERSON SAY “SEE HERE”*

    Now see here!
    SEE HERE

Free to run around all day
    FREE RUN* ALL-DAY

    That’s definitely out–
    IX-you CAN’T DO THAT

Free to do it all my way!
    FREE DO IX-me CHOOSE

I think it’s time that you and I
    Arranged a heart-to-heart
    IX-me THINK WE-TWO NEED TALK

    Kings don’t need advice
    KING NOT NEED HELP
From little hornbills for a start
    FROM LITTLE BIRD

If this is where the monarchy is headed
    IF IX-you BECOME KING
    Count me out
    BACK-OUT
Out of service, out of Africa
    IX-me QUIT
    I wouldn’t hang about
    IX-me NOT STAY
This child is getting wildly out of wing
    IX-him BECOME VERY CRAZY MISCHIEVIOUS

Oh, I just can’t wait to be king!
    IX-me CAN’T WAIT BECOME KING
    Everybody look left
    LOOK*

    Everybody look right
    LOOK*

    Everywhere you look I’m–
    EVERYWHERE LOOK IX-me

    Standing in the spotlight
    MOST IMPORTANT

    Not yet
    NOT-YET

Let every creature go for broke and sing
    EVERY ANIMAL SING
Let’s hear it in the herd and on the wing
    HEAR*
It’s gonna be King Simba’s finest fling
KING fs-SIMBA* POSS-his ?-(I’m not quite sure what “finest fling” means.)

Oh, I just can’t wait to be king!
    IX-me CAN’T WAIT BECOME KING

Oh, he just can’t wait to be king!
    IX-he CAN’T WAIT BECOME KING

    Oh, I just can’t wait…
    IX-me CAN’T WAIT

    Just can’t wait
    CAN’T WAIT

    To be king!
    BECOME KING

    Notes:
LITTLE-BIT: a G handshape like you’re showing a little bit between your fingers
?: I’m not sure what to sign
PERSON: Sign this with flat hands, not P handshapes.
DO: I recommend using the first sign found on this page: http://www.lifeprint.com/asl101/pages-signs/d/do.htm Just don’t use his facial expression, because it means you’re asking a “what” question.
“BE THERE”: Make quotation marks with your hands (either the normal way or make bent V handshapes kinda faced forward and turn them fast so that they’re facing each other). Then sign the words BE and THERE.
BE: Use the sign found here: http://www.lifeprint.com/asl101/pages-signs/b/be-verbs.htm
THERE: Use either of the signs on this page: http://www.lifeprint.com/asl101/pages-signs/t/there.htm
MEAN: As in meaning, don’t use the sign for mean as in not nice.
NOT-UNDERSTAND: Sign understand while shaking your head no.
“SEE HERE”: Make quotation marks with your hands (either the normal way or make bent V handshapes kinda faced forward and turn them fast so that they’re facing each other). Then sign the words SEE and HERE.
RUN: Sign run, but move it around like it’s running around.
LOOK: Sign look in whatever direction the song is saying. Only do this for the ones I have starred.
HEAR: Sign hear with one hand, then with the other, like you’re hearing it in different places. I would use the second or third sign on this page: http://www.lifeprint.com/asl101/pages-signs/h/hear.htm

IX-me (IX-you, etc.): Point at whoever or whatever you’re talking about.
POSS-my (POSS-your, etc.): Push a flat hand toward whoever you’re referring to, to show that something belongs to them.
    fs: Fingerspell the word.
