I would like to be a american sign language interpreter?

I have only taken ASL 101 at a local community college, i have a hard time getting classes in my area.

Is there any organizations that will teach sign language just not as a “credit” or anyway to learn it will enough to be an interpreter without the piece of paper saying i can do it.

i really want to learn more.

  1. Im not really sure what you mean or what area you are in, but to be hired as an interpreter, most companies will want a degree or completion of an interpreting program. There is also RID which is a national association of interpreters (www.rid.org) that has more info on becoming certified through them which looks really good if youre applying for interpreting jobs. But if you are just begining, you would probably have to find some kind of program because for most job offers, taking classes isnt enough.
