  1. … and in some citys they get payed a doctor’s salary to do this, not a bad job if you aint afraid to get dirty

  2. Good device, very progressive! SO FAST!
One of garbage bins was failed down, lol

  3. City of Toronto garbage are on strike, they should really use this to replace those losers.

  4. Yeah, my problem with Mcneilus is that the controls seem to be real sensitive, so to be ‘delicate’ with the bins the driver has to barely tap the joystick and then it moves too far…….just not the best IMO.

  5. Yeah that’s one of the reasons I prefer a Labrie, Wayne, or McNeilus better. There is mostly Heil and Amrep here in the O.C.

  6. We have those where i live and call them “Wheel breakers” because the drivers are new to ASLs and slam the cans on the curb line, breaking the wheels off. I’ll see if i can get video of it, it’s funny to watch a 6 inch wheel shoot off like a bullet when the can hits the ground.

  7. You’re completely correct, there’d be wayyy too many cars and obstructions for an ASL to operate efficiently there. Some places are meant for rear loaders/semi automated collection more so than full automation.

  8. An interesting concept but I could not ever see it working in London. Our streets are so narrow and congested that even having wheelie bins of that size is a problem.

I could also just imagine the problems of cars being spanked by the mechanical arm, or even people come to that. If people are stupid enough to walk behind a reversing dustcart, they are certainly brainless enough to walk into the mechanical arm.

The video also shows the vehicle operating in its most perfect environment.

  9. I’ve heard/seen that Heil is getting a reputation for their ASL arms having electrical/computer problems, repeating motions such as raising the arm when the driver’s really trying to open the grabbers….so maybe not reliable 🙂

  10. These are state of the art there down in North Carolina and these are good trucks they are safe and reliable

  11. lol i built a lego model of the hiel python but it has 3 axles on the reaer cuz theres a huge gap.

  12. I think the driver just chooses to lower the arm slowly, if that’s what you’re talking about.

  13. if only it had the down speed equal to the up it would be one of the most interesting trucks to watch!
