there are both books and websites.
sign language for dummies at border’s books.
it wont work anyway, waste of time.
i wish i could find a book as well. maybe check the local bookstore. i think chapters or indigo books has some good books

This website was really informative. I found that a lot of the links in my web-search offered expensive products but this website has videos you can upload right to you computer for only $2. The woman who started it also has clips of her daughter at different ages doing sign language.
There are TONS of books out there. I would go with American Sign Language signs. The website below, ASL, is what I used, but there are books and classes just for babies, but I did it on my own as I didn’t want to spend the money.
this is the beginners book that we started using at eight months. He took to it right away!!

He is now 21 months old and we are looking for a book that is the next step from here….lol He knows all the signs in this one. I think this is a great thing to do for your child!! Good luck and be consistent. Oh and there is fine print at the bottom of every page that is instructions/suggestions for the parents. I do have one suggestion. Start with only a few that you will use all day and build from there.
Oh and this is an ASL based book!!
hi, i would love to do the same thing, and i also got stupid answers back on here.
my daughter is 9 weeks and my health visitor said that you can start as soon as this as babies associate their hands with language before anything else.
i know this isn’t really helping, but ive just been searching the internet for answers, my health visitor is also going to find out for me. its worth asking yours if you have 1.
hope you get somewhere, i think its a wonderful quality for children to have, my daughters hearing is fine but would still like her to know the basics. x x
I started signing with my son when he was about 4 months old and I bought an illustrated book called “baby talk” it has alot of great signs to help get you and your baby started off. The key is really consistency…speaking and signing the word each time..
I started with the sign for milk, eat, mommy and daddy
He started signing mill back after about 2 months along with eat..I then started incorporating other signs for things we did everyday like bath, drink, water, all done, play, more…he is now 9 months old and though he can’t sign everything I know he understands each sign based on his reactions…
Good luck signing and don’t be discouraged…consistency is really key and one day your baby will surprise you by signing back to you..also only people who are ignorant say signing is dumb. It has been scientifically proven babies have the skill to use their hands to communicate before they can speak.
