my daughter is interested in taking american sign language as her language, but i’ve heard that some colleges do not accept sign language as a language. could someone confirm if the majority of colleges do/do not accept american sign language?

Usually, yes it is acceptable. I have taken ASL for 2 years and absolutely love it – and I got into a great university without issue. However, it doesn’t hurt to check with some schools your child is interested in beforehand (just in case).
You should check with the colleges your daughter is interested in if they take ASL as a language. I believe major university like University of Washington takes ASL but just to make sure, check with the college.
