Is American Sign Language hard to learn & is it considered a foreign language ?

A foreign language in as far as a person who can speak and hear normally who wants to learn rather than learning a language that’s common to everyone, taught in hign school and colleges.

  1. It’s not really hard to learn since it’s based on American English. It helps if you think of it that way instead of a completely separate foreign language.

  2. I think you can get FL credit at a college or high school for it.

but no, it really is easier tolearn than a language (i think) because there is not the grammer part to worry about. just memorizing the movements and meanings of what your hands are doing…not new words and how to order them in sentences and stuff like that

  3. It’s pretty cool…!!! and it is not a foreign language its more like an alternate one… It’s easy as long as u practice it, because u can forget what u learned. You need to practice it..!! Try contacting any speech language pathology or thereapy provider, also universities, continuing studies institutions or any deaf or hard of hearing associations, they probably offer them for less $$… Hope u get to do it…
