I would like to take ASL (American Sign Language) in college for my associates degree and wanted to know how much different the ASL was from those systems in Arab countries.. I searched online to find that there are Jordanian, Saudi, & Israeli systems but they did not explain if the differences were vast. My husband would one day like to move to Saudi Arabia and I wanted to know if learning Arab Sign Language would be completely different.
TexHabsfan: I would be interpretating for those who are hard of hearing / deaf.. do you know what that is?

I don’t have a complete idea about this …… but I don’t think it would be completely different … although I think there are some differences ….
Why wouldn’t you guys learn standard Arabic then? Sign language (like any other language for that matter) is only good if someone else knows it.
Of course! Some signals like “STOP” for example.
Many people died in Irak because they misinterpreted the sign for stop as they understood “HELLO”
