  1. http://commtechlab.msu.edu/sites/aslweb/browser.htm is a really good site to check out. You can also look online for books like Baby Signs, etc. that tell you more about signing with an infant and which signs are helpful.

    It’s recommended that you use ASL rather than the made up ones because it’s universal and can be helpful in the future. I use ASL with my 19 mo old son and he does really good with the signs I’ve taught him and learns new ones ALL the time. He started doing signs around 6-7 months, but I started showing him signs when he was about 4 months old.

  2. I taught my son a lot of signs. I got some board books from the library, so he could look at them too. Every time you say the word, sign it too. I taught him about 10-15 signs. He’s 2 now and still signs for “please” when he says it. “more” is a great one to teach, it made things a little easier. They get less frustrated with you if they can sign it when they can’t say it yet.

  3. my son knows sigh laugage and he hears fine.. i tought him. it is really easy to learn go get a sign laugage book they have sevral sign baby books… but babys do make up there own sign… like my son water , it is like putting up 3 fingers as in the number 3, but he would put is whole hand up to his face with his finger out.. i new he ment water but when i signed it to him i would sign it the right way.. it is awasome and i hope u have fu teaching them.. use signs right from the begining… my son first sign was DOG.. it is patting ur leg like u would call a dog he loved the dog… it was awsome see his first sign!!!

  4. make it interesting I’ve got stories that are free and posted. at the bottom are letters for the little one to learn with animated hands i will be adding words slowly
    this is a learning site with animations and music to
    hold their interest .
