Im an aunt and I want to teach my nephew sign language. He is turning 6 months soon and I think it’s the best time. There’s only one problem, I only get him on the weekends and I know that the people he live with are eather too busy or will refuse to further teach him themselves. Is it possible for him to still learn even though he only sees me 2 days a week?

YES
yeah, it will just take longer than if it was every day.
From 1-4, children are learning sponges!! Work with him the entire time you have him. Sign language is a wonderful tool to jump start a child’s education – they can ask for what they want earlier in life. Good for you for taking the time to teach him that – it will be a very valuable lesson for him.
Completely possible. Just do it consistantly with him and he will start picking it up. My son could sign more and milk when he was 7 months old.
yes it’s possible due to the fact of how rapidly an infants mind is taking in it’s surroundings.
Best of luck
It can be possible but the parents should also be heavily involved in it as well. Baby sign language is such a great thing for babies to learn b/c they can actually tell you what they want just by their hand gestures. But if no one else is willing to learn or participate in the sign language except you, it will be difficult. It’s kinda sad to hear that everyone else is either too busy or won’t participate in such a great thing. Good for you for trying!
Yep, it’s totally possible. And although I know what you mean about the others’ not having time or being unwilling to teach him, I’d bet that once they see him sign and see how helpful a baby/toddler knowing how to sign is, they’ll jump on board. And honestly, even though I sign to my five month old, and I know some people sign from birth, I only sign to him because I already sign to my 2 year old daughter. If I had to do it all over again, I personally wouldn’t start signing until a baby is about 10 months old. So I think your sourpuss family/friends will jump in by then. Keep it up. If you haven’t already, google “baby signing”, etc.- there are a ton of really great websites. I have a few books, but everything in my books I’ve also found online.
