  1. at 6:17 this is the first time in the movie I’ve seen Koko in assertive Gorilla stance, then 10 minutes later she hugged and kissed Fran. Absolutely love it.

  2. Why does Koko rip things? Because Koko is a gorilla, not a human child.

    This “science” is ridiculous.

  3. “Look at this, Koko! You broke it! You are a bad gorrilla! Now clean this mess up, you bad, bad gorrilla!”

“Bitch! I’ll snap you like a fucking twig! Get the fuck off my back, you dumb human!”

  4. the first white protestant gorilla hehehe. i’m glad koko doesn’t go to sunday school….

  5. awe. shes such a little suck up. Everytime she says bad or trouble, she gives her a hug or kiss. lol.

  6. Ripping things apart, oh man, the poor thing is probably bored sometimes, just like a kid. But hey, she has a lot to keep her occupied, too.

  7. i feel bad for koko…its any wonder she’s causing trouble, being stuck in that tiny prison all the time

  8. This part makes me a bit angry. When Koko doesn’t want to go in the cage and the Dr. gets cut or something while trying to get her in the cage, she goes back to get something (maybe a cattle prod) and Koko runs in the cage(like she been shocked or what ever before) then they cut out the video…..obviously hurting the poor Gorilla.

Overall I think this is a very interesting video, although I feel sorry for Koko as she can’t roam free in the wilderness.

  9. I feel bad for koko at 3:25, SHE knew she was being “bad”, and her sympathy is obvious on her face! Amazing that some animals are capable of guilt.

Either that, or she’s good at manipulating people by feigning emotions, which would be even more interesting.

  10. It seems that Koko wants to be left alone for a minute. The contact with this lady seems a bit overbearing and overly intense. It makes me yearn for a moment without her just looking at it!

  11. For heaven’s sake, Dr Patterson is hardly in it for her own limited income. She has dedicated every day of her life since 1971 to being with a lowland gorilla. If you’re concerned about the well-being of her species, the awareness generated by Koko and the Gorilla foundation have done more than anything else to promote just that goal. Furthermore, the Foundation is building a gorilla preserve in Hawai’i, safe from the threat of extinction, and much more appropriate than this trailer.

  12. What is the use of getting mad at an animal?! ;-( Koko makes her money, studies hard, and is supposed to live in the woods

  13. He’s being sarcastic, referring to how American adults force their beliefs on their children. The Dr here understands that KoKo isnt her child or legacy. KoKo has to retain her own personality and perceptions or the experiment becomes dishonest.

  14. wtf, “could Koko be the first white American protestant gorilla? White makes no sense but PROTESTANT makes even less. What do you suppose the narrator means by this? As in this is the “average” American at the time?
