  1. I don’t know if you have found an ASL pen pal yet or not, but I would love to get the chance to practice with someone. I just finished my 2nd semester of ASL at my college but have to wait until after next year before the second level is offered, so I do not want to be rusty when I start taking classes again. If you are no longer looking for a pen pal, do you happen to know anyone else that is??

  2. im learning 2, just started. but i see u know more than me and u sign them quite fluently well, i am deaf but i sign british sign language and am well fluently at it but not in asl and i would like to get know many of it as i can and be fluently…..i would like to find a deaf pen pal online, or you if u already know it all by now????

  3. Hmmm…not seeing what I sent u earlier. Anyway go to interpretersusie and see if I can help you. I did make a video after all.

  4. You did a GREAT job for a beginner. Dont be hard on yourself….from what I saw you remembered a lot. I am a retired licensed interpreter and would love to help you. The best way would be to communicate via web cams…..I at the moment do not have one but am considering getting one to fill some of my time with the sign students on here. Anyway….till then if I can guide u thru by explanation with words I will do my best.

  5. I don’t know about a pen pal, but I could help you with your signing if you want. I’m in my 5th year of ASL, second year at the college level. You can check out my videos too, they might help you pick up some new signs. 🙂

  6. Not true at all. We went up to Deaf people and simply asked for name signs and recieved them. It is not hard to recieve a name sign:).

  7. Heh, we’d like to think that’s how sign names work, but from some of what I’ve seen, from some of my Deaf friends, they’ll give one to someone they meet for the first time. Even to those that have only been learning a short time.
I got my first sign name from someone that barely knew me and I had only been learning a couple months. However, later on I got a new one that was more appropriate and from someone I knew well and knew me well and had been learning for much longer…

  8. I just recently came across your vlog and I was interested in the idea of a video pen pal. I am c.o.d.a. I am fluent in sign. I just never made a video before though. I was wanting to interpret some songs and post them.

  9. I dont know about ASL pen pal, but I would certainly be your bed pal. I could show you a few signs of language for sure!

  10. I wonder how you got an ASL sign name… you’re supposed to be a strong member of the Deaf community and have a strong understanding of the Deaf culture before you receive one. On the other hand, good for you for putting yourself out there and being interested in the language and improving your fluency 🙂 Just remember to sign using ASL grammar rather than signing each word (i.e. signing exact english). I don’t have a web cam, but I hope you find an ASL “pen” pal 🙂

  11. msg me and we will set up a day to get on skype. my skype is puchipuni. just send me a msg i would love to :]

  12. You are very good at signing but the only thing i would have to say is dont sign “And” all the time. Iam a first year in my ASL class and i understood every thing you were saying. =) good job

  13. I think you did a great job. I’m just starting to learn. It’s a very complex language. I like how you kept spelling “video” V-I-L-D-E-O. 🙂 Cute. Hope you’ve found a video-pal!

  14. I would like to be figure out how to do this pen pal thing on utube. I am a student at the local college, and I babysit my deaf grand-niece.

  15. well shoot, i can’t figure out how to make a video on here. Well if any hearing people are interested in having a ASL pen pal you can find me on Skype screen name megnelson222 OR Yahoo sceen name mrsnelson222 I’m really interested in finding more people to use ASL with! 🙂

  16. i’ll go ahead and send you a video. I am currently taking classes to become an ASL interpreter. I would LOVE to have more people to talk to using ASL to get more practice!

  17. I’ll send ya video response in the next few days 😉 I think it would be a great idea to have a pen pal.

  18. I would like to be your penpal as I took a class 25 years ago, and I am in the same situation as you. The only problem is that I have converted to SE/SEE, and no longer use ASL. The grammer and syntax will be different.
