1. Travel to Paris or any other French speaking country.

Now don’t get me wrong, when you come back home, you will not be fluent yet but you will be ahead of the crowd because you will be able to “feel” this language. You will remember your new friends and the fact that you want to be able to communicate with them will be a strong advantage for you.

2. My favorite “pen and piece of paper method”

While you are there, listen and write everything you can, If you didn’t understand a word, just ask! Communicate with others. Don’t be afraid. Once you got it, write it down on a small piece of paper and be sure to have it in your pocket.

In fact, every single morning, you need to add 10 new words on your piece of paper. Then, during the day you are going to look at it every two hours from the time you wake up until the time you are going to bed. That means… all day long.

At the end of the day, you know 10 new words. After thirty days, that’s three hundreds words!

3. Coming back home

Sign up for a grammar course online. This is powerful because you will remember many of the words and sounds you’ve heard in Paris, and you will be able to become fluent faster.

4. From time to time, don’t forget to jump on the plane and visit Paris.

A last thing, don’t forget to call people that you met during your trip because it’s very difficult to understand what someone say on the phone. This will improve your skills dramatically. You can even use Skype.com to call for free.
