ok so my niece who just turned 1 has learned baby sign language but there is one thing that she does that i have NO IDEA what it is lol… ok she points at her palm with one finger (she does this in a taping motion) , then puts her hands on my fore head and moves them all the way down to my chin, then she rubs up her arm starting from her hand. And another one is that she slaps her forehead.
p.s. when she is pointing at her hand she is not doing “cookie” because she does that one right when she wants or see’s a cookie. And I already know that rubbing down the face means beautifull. im just stumped on the other parts. THANKS

Hard to say. So often baby sign language is an extremely dumbed down version of actual ASL (like sticking your tongue out and panting like a dog… what the hell? That’s nowhere near the sign for dog).
Also, just like hearing kids speech production isn’t perfect, deaf and hearing kids sign production isn’t always perfect. And I’m not sure why she appears to be signing on your body. The tapping finger on her palm could be her own variation of “more”, that’s pretty common until they get the correct handshapes down. Slapping her forehead could be her way of signing “daddy”.. another baby variation that is seen in signing babies and toddlers until they get the palm orientation, movement, and so forth right. The rest… I have no idea and they may not be signs at all.
The sign BEAUTIFUL is not exactly rubbing down the face. SLEEP sort of is, however. The palm orientation and movement are slightly different. Maybe this will help: http://www.aslpro.com/
Where is she learning baby sign language from? School? Parents? A book you read to her? Signing Time videos? That may give you a clue. Also look at what context they are in and see if you can clue into what items or topic were in her environment and if she uses them again.
i know one thing if they put there fingers pressing on there thumb with both hands and put there left hand fingers and tap them to the left hand fingers that means more!!!

I done signing with both my boys and found it very useful – while all my friends babies were crying in frustration my boys told me what they needed or wanted. Until they get very good dexterity their signs may be incomplete and not recognisable to others except those who see them sign often. Ask her mother and father maybe they can shed light on this sign!
