  1. No. There are separate signs for each language. That’s why they call it “American Sign Language” I am fluent in American Sign Language, or ASL. You can easily offend someone from another country by using a simple sign in American Sign Language. I have met other people who sign that are from America and they have shown me a few signs that mean different words!

  2. I thought it would be, but, I was told by someone in the know that it isn’t the same in every language. The last I heard they were working on Universal signs.

  3. No. There are even various dialects in one country. E.g. in Germany, a sign laguage interpreter from Munich may not be able to fully understand a person from Berlin.
