Sign Language Interpreter

go.tagjag.com – twitter.com – There may be times when you need to talk to someone who uses sign language to communicate. If you don’t know sign language yourself, it may be difficult to converse with the other person. However, if you have an iphone, there’s an app that can help you. The ASL Dictionary is full of more than 4800 signs. Type a word or letter into the application, and it will show you with video clips how to sign what you entered. This is a great way to open lines of communication that – until now – had been hard to navigate. chris.pirillo.com.

  1. @georgewig no, each word in the whole sign language dictionary is recorded, you can type in any sentence and it will pull the words from the dictionary and create a proper sign language sentence and then show the video for it. deaf grammar is totally different then regular english.

  2. Deaf people have a totally different grammatical structure. They may pick up a few words, but its no different than yoy speaking to someone in a foreign language. In addition, this is a tool to help someone learn the language

  3. Here’s why this app doesn’t help: If you have an iPhone on you, just type in the words…

  4. its more helpful if you are taking a class and need study info. Just know that some signs have many varations. would be cool if it used the vid camera to do reconition.

  5. What’s the name of this app, the one in the description is not this one. The one in the description sucks!!

  6. This is useful for learning but as everyone else says, ultimately pointless for translating.

  7. …….. okay if you have an iphone couldn’t you just write what you wanted to say?

  8. My deaf son and I both have an iPod Touch. Most of the time we are on the road or at work and we need to look up a sign and it’s annoying to drag a dictionary around. Sometimes he’ll want to know how you sign a certain word. I’m definitely going to download this app. Even if it helps with just a few signs we don’t know, it’s fine. The alternative is to make up a home sign for what we are trying to say.

  9. It’s a good way to learn sign language I guess, Of Course its ASL, not so handy when the person you’re talking to only knows BSL
