  1. emichlo, sign language are like spoken languages… it depends on accent depending on the area of the country. There are many spoken language over the world and it is the same with sign language… Spain has their own sign language, France has their own and so on

  2. @dazholst i am confused, i am trying to learn sign language to become a teacher for the deaf, but another video showed me 1-10 differently (6 was made by folding your thumb on the top of your hand) why are some different?

  3. This person is signing incorrectly. 1 – 5 palm orientation is facing the signer but 6 – 10 is facing outward.

  4. @dazholst In addition, this lady should’ve taken the ASL course that I took at CSUN, she would have failed it easily.

  5. Yes, the palm orientation is wrong. Could be because she is not qualified to teach ASL, and “learned” from a book, and now she is spreading her mistakes all across the Internet. Please rate this video one star (“poor”) so that she doesn’t get more fools duped into thinking she knows what she is doing.

  6. She does 6-9 the wrong direction. Expertvillage is a total joke. It should be called retardvillage or something lol

  7. Oh, this time the bio says (in Spanish): Melissa Schenk will teach you how to budget your expenses on purchases of gifts for the holidays.

Hmmm … not Melissa Schenk is a certified ASL teacher.

    This video STINKS.

  8. Did any notice that her “qualifications” are in Spanish? Want to know what they say? Something like “Melissa helps you with decorating your home.” She is actually a broadcasting personality, not a sign language “expert” in any way, since she has ZERO qualifications. She is just acting the part. I agree with BYUFanatic and check out his videos. He is the best ASL teacher on YouTube. Enough said!

  9. Bravo. It’s good to see that you (and others) recognize that this woman knows nothing about ASL. Anyone can check out a sign language book at a library, but she demonstrates what happens when you learn from a book rather than from a real person who is fluent in the language.
