some schools have majors for that… one of my friends goes to TCNJ (the college of new jersey) and they offer a BS in Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing/Elementary Education as well as an MAT program (masters) in order to get certified… im sure there’s other schools that offer the same/similar programs.
Suggest you talk to your counselor. They can tell you what will fit best with what you already have. There is also the fact that if you want to teach ASL you are going to need practice, look around for opportunies to practice. gl
There are graduate programs specializing in Education of the Deaf. With a focus on elementary education, you could be working with young Deaf children as they develop their early ASL skills. A strong foundation in ASL is needed, but I don’t think you can teach anywhere without going to grad school for Deaf Ed. I went to Boston University, which is a good program. There are a few others in the country which prepare you for teaching in a bilingual-bicultural program (which is what it seems like you want to do). Good luck!
