If you are going to ask someone ASL, shouldn’t you start by saying your own ASL? When someone chats me and says ASL and I don’t know anything about them, that’s the end of the conversation from me.

You should start by asking it first. If that’s not possible, just tell them to post it first. If they don’t, then yeah you can end the conversation. I think it’s still silly to end the conversation because of this. You’re giving out ASL, not home address and phone numbers.
Clarify what is ASL please.
usually means they’re seeking out a particular A, S, & L
I just try and avoid the whole ASL thing and meet people face to face.
Ooot & Aboot: ASL = Age / Sex / Location. Used often in chat programs or chat rooms.
Generally, I’d agree with you. If you’re feeling snarky, you could answer with something like “Old Enough/Love It/Here”.
But yes, generally, when asking, one should volunteer the information about themselves.
ASL= Age/sex/location
I’ve been in xat.com for a while now. 2-4 years with a 3-5 month break of course because some of my friends are complaining of being ignored because of a new girl who’s cute and yada yada yada…. I talk to persons there who are ignored…. Yeah I was once a moderator and that’s my job even if i’m still 13. About the ASL, Yeah i notice that too and it’s kind of annoying. I noticed this… Boys ask asl from beautiful girls and,just an example, their secretly 20(the boy that is), and the girl says 14/f/Philippines and the boy says “cool! I’m 15/m/Philippines” and when he asks my friend who is 13 like me he says “cool! i’m 14/m/Philippines” Sometimes it happens to me too. It sucks. It’s like flirting or something. People have the ability to lie in chat rooms. When people ask for asl they SHOULD first say their asl before the person they ask says it. Those who insist that you should be the one to say it may lie to you or if you answer then he/she finds out that you’re younger or older than her/him may leave you. But other people are nice though. But be careful! Be like a puma! and say “I’ve got my eyes on you!”. Hope this helps.
